A typo in The Tales of Beedle the Bard? Oh, my

I found a typo in my standard edition copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I did not catch it when I read it for the first time in 2008, but when I read it now, I found it glaring at me right in the face. I’m lame, right? But I’m happy. Typos usually make printed works more valuable, especially if said printed works are popular like in the case of Beedle the Bard. They become collector’s items. I also read that The Tales Beedle the Bard CE contains typos. Now I wish I can afford a copy of the collector’s edition. But alas, it is too expensive for a poor bookworm like me.

Becoming collector’s item aside, I hope [they] caught the error and corrected it before they printed the next editions. We can’t have everybody having a collector’s copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, now, can we? That just won’t do.

For life is not fair

Most of the time I don’t really care that I barely have enough money to get by.

Not today. Not this month.

No, it’s not because it’s Christmastime and I have gifts to buy and other expenses to think about.

It’s because The Tales of Beedle the Bard is already out. It’s release date is December 04, 2008. Hopefully, it’ll come to Cebu also on that day. But that’s not really the reason I very much mind that I’m so broke right now and that, without doubt, I’ll still be so broke in the months to come. I think I can spare Php500+ for the standard edition of TToBtB, just as I plan  to spare (come hell of high water) Php1K for Acheron. What is shredding my heart to bite-size pieces right now is the collector’s edition of TToBtB Amazon is offering. Gad! Looking at it, wanting to own one of it, and having no money to buy one is just sooo heartbreaking and unfair. But I think I just have to contend with having a broken heart for a time, for how my can my conscience take it if I bought the collector’s edition? It is about Php5,000!

And just now, I saw Labyrinth: A Novel at Amazon. It is already out of print, and the ones sold online (at Amazon) are pretty much expensive, too, even if they are not brand new. The cheapest is $60+ and that is exclusive of the shipping fee. Oh, sad life.

I can certainly feel my heart bleeding right now (believe it or not).

I love books; they are my comfort in the times when I really wanted to escape from the realities of life. But sometimes, too, I feel they are gonna be the death of me.

Excuse me while I go nurse my broken heart. 😦
