Letting Go

Standing near the edge of nothingness, I’m scared.
Time is floating all around, taunting me with its infiniteness.
An echoing hunger wells up from deep within the inky chasm.
The sound resounding, enveloping in its warmth.

Looking down, I saw the darkness pulsating, beckoning.
It is calling to me, offering release in its velvety fold.
Though, nothing remains but the remnants of broken dreams.
Not much to forget, too much to remember.

I feel the sting of temptation’s whispery kiss on my cheeks.
I can see a faint glimmer of the weak lifeline I’m offered.
Tempting, tempted, where do I head?
Down? Up? Nowhere? Or should I fly to where it is lit?
